“Consumption Game" Hand Mirror

$60.00

A never ending circle of consumption. Eat what's offered, be devoured in turn, then step back and view the turmoil from another angle. Observe where you fit in the coils of the ouroboros: does the scrying mirror show the full shape of a galaxy when you're already mired within its societal norm?

These hand mirrors are a handmade labor of love. They're inspired by antique gutta percha mirrors, an early thermoplastic made from tree sap and made popular during the Victorian era for producing small objects. The base of this mirror has been cast from an actual gutta percha mirror from my collection, while the fighting rat and hognose snake motif was sculpted by me. Each mirror is hand cast in urethane resin, then painted to bring out the texture and detail. No two mirrors are exactly alike, and each one stands as both a piece of fine art and a utilitarian item meant to be as beautiful and disturbing as it is useful.

Each piece is 10.5" tall and set with a 4" x 6" oval mirror. Last photo shows the current variants available.
