"Milk Frog" Vintage-style Milk Glass Mug

$18.00

Gather ye cookies while ye may, and quench their thirst by dunking them in a stylish, vintage-esque milk glass diner mug. This is inspired not only by my obsession for milk glass trinkets, but also by the old Russian folk wisdom of keeping one’s milk fresh by keeping a live frog in the pail. Call it a bizarre idea, but frogs do secrete antimicrobial agents to keep their skin healthy. That said, don’t put frogs in your milk please. You won’t like it, they won’t like it, and that’s how you end up haunted by ghost frogs for the rest of your unnatural life.

These pink ghost frogs spent a little too long in their own milk bath. The decorative blue curls are meant to visually evoke frog calls, and were inspired by the motif on a vintage samovar I have in my collection that I inherited from my dedushka. Little bits of my heritage keep finding their way into my art.

These mugs hold 8 oz of liquid. Please note that these are not dishwasher safe and must be washed by hand only.
