“Teacup Alternative Design” Original Colored Pencil Illustration

This original colored pencil illustration is an alternative design created while I was working on my gilded teacup. While I didn't end up using it for the cup, it's still one of my favorite small skull pieces. The mat for the framed piece was handpainted by me, a technique similar to frames I have in my collection from the 1920s. I've started utilizing this to give my originals the feel of an old reliquary and add an extra layer of dimension.

This piece is framed and ready to hang. Artwork within the frame measures 5" x 7".

The pencils used in this piece have varying levels of lightfastness, meaning that the pigments can break down to varying degrees through prolonged exposure to UV light. To ensure that the colors stay vibrant, do not place directly near windows or other sources of UV light, such as plant or reptile lighting.

The vellum paper on which this illustration was created is very sensitive to moisture and can warp and ripple if exposed to water. Keep this piece out of high-humidity environments such as bathrooms, and do not hang above high-moisture areas such as over aquariums or near sinks. Do not directly spray cleaning solutions on the frame or glass. Should the glass require cleaning: use a soft, dry cloth, or spray a light amount of cleaner on a cloth first (do not oversaturate) and apply the cloth to the glass.
