"Mother of Ochre" Art Print

"You are not yet of my blood, my child, but I can see a haze of kinship in your eyes. You’ve been abandoned, yes? Left to rot, to disappear into the maw of the bog? Come. Let me cherish you, celebrate you, sublimate the minerals within your very bones. My baptism waters will leach away the colors what turned their backs to you, until only familial blue blooms."

Have you heard of vivianite? It's a blue-green mineral known for replacing the organic matter in bones and shells left to decay in bog environments. It was also used for a short time as a pigment in paint under the names blue ochre and Mother of Ochre. Vivianite only enjoyed a short life in art history, as its high rate of oxidization quickly changes it from a hazy blue-grey when fresh, to a more subdued brown over time.

This is an 8" x 10" print on 100lb uncoated cardstock. Your print is signed and stamped on the back, and will ship in an acid-free cellophane sleeve for added protection.
