"Venus of the Grave Cave" 11" x 14" Art Print

Call her an anatomical Venus, or Lady Lazarus, or the Androphagos facet of Aphrodite. She is Death, the force of inevitable change that none can resist and from whom none can find shelter. She is the beauty in inevitability, the force gawked at by a peanut-crunching crowd until she comes for them in turn. She is a warm smile born of bloody seafoam and words turned sour through perspective. She is a roiling sea that buries all in time.

“Venus of the Grave Cave” is my interpretation of the tarot card Death, taken through the lens of the darker aspects of Aphrodite, with a sprinkling of Sylvia Plath imagery as well. Throughout are scattered symbols of change, transformation, and eventual decay: extinct creatures now made scientific relics, a lethal white foal given an afterlife, and references to art and artforms seen through the viewpoints of time and changing perspectives.

This is an 11" x 14" print on 100lb uncoated cardstock. Your print is signed and stamped on the back, and will ship in an acid-free cellophane sleeve for added protection. This print ships in a tube, and may ship separately from non-print/sticker/pin items.
